Mahakam River & Orang Utan:The Mahakam river in Borneo (Kalimantan) is a place of extraordinary scenic beauty as well as being the habitat of a unique and fascinating variety of wildlife. This is also the home of an orang-utan rehabilitation station, a project to ensure that our ‘closest relatives’ are protected and to assure their survival in the jungle.

We stay as special guests in the traditional longhouse villages of the Dayak local tribe and spend a couple of nights on the river in a longboat. Our time here is spent exploring our surroundings, trekking through the gigantic rainforest and travelling along the river on longboats, encountering white water rapids from time to time.
